My Child's Announcment

I know it's nothing glorious or anything spectacular, but hey, it's my kid!
Yesterday, without telling me ANYTHING, he talked to his Granddaddy and informed him that instead of camp this summer, he was actively seeking a JOB.
My child is 15...and has NEVER said anything about this until literally today.
He didn't even mention it in the car on the way to my Dad's, either, it just came out in conversation that he is picking up an application from the school office today and wants to apply for this job opening that was announced yesterday at school.
It's not that this is a bad thing, it's just that it caught me totally off guard. He wants a job...
I need to teach him to drive...he has online courses over & beyond normal school work, tournaments every weekend for the past month, and he is talking about getting a job...
Wow...I mean, sure, I worked as a kid at his age, but I had this booming very lucrative babysitting gig in my neighborhood being the only teen within blocks that would keep all of the neighborhood kids at once if the parents needed me to...but I never had what you would call a real job where you would get an actual regular paycheck with taxes and all until I was headed to college.
And this is all his idea, his wanting, his request. I mean, I suppose it's not much different than summer camp really.
But he's only 15...which is old enough to get a real job. I think he's growing up...more than I realized.
