All Of My Babies Are Growing Up: Potty Power Celebration #3 & MORE
Posted by Vulnadia on Jul 04, 2010 at 01:03 PM
Friday, all of my babies reached milestones that are bittersweet and show how much they have grown up.
To begin with, it was Bregon's last day of driving for driver's education. He spent half of it with his eyes closed because the other driver was soo scary!
Thankfully, he was deemed a good driver by his instructer who oftentimes read the newspaper while he drove-he was just that normal of a driver thankfully!
But, once he got home, not only did he have his signed completed driver's ed form with instructions to take it to the DMV, but we also had a potty celebration to plan!
So, I had Bregon help me get everyone ready, and we all piled into Mommievan #2 (the new black one) and we headed out to mark a major milestone for Bregon: the learner's permit.
I know I know, this means another DMV trip...oh no! This time, I had a plan and we had one less kiddo with us so I knew we could pull this one off-no choices!
We got there somehow by about 3ish. The place was PACKED, too. With a feeling of dread, I told the lady at the desk what we were going to do and she gave us a number.
With a little bit of luck, there were only 3 people ahead of us and only 1 of them was still there!
Our wait was only about 5 minutes-long enough to find a place for us all to stand & loiter-we managed to get the wrappers off of our bank-issued suckers when our number was called!
We got to the desk only to discover that the driver's ed people had been WRONG, Bregon would have to take yet another test!
He headed over to that area with the whole "Take your time" advice from the girl...this was a scary thought! We hadn't anticipated THAT wait!
So, with perfect timing, Vivienne had that funny look on her face as she announced she had to go potty.
I got all sorts of excited and told them we would go on an adventure and check out how neat the DMV potty was!
Yes, they all 3 bought into this one, kid you not, as we all marched happily over to the restrooms-the entire place must have thought we were crazy since they had been staring at us since we got there-but you have to do SOMETHING while waiting the long wait out there I suppose-so why not?
We had the potty to ourselves! So Kai took one side, and Vivienne the other while Kian checked out and inspected the sink set up in hopes of finding automated soap dispensers etc...
Everyone took a whirl on the potty, and everyone washed their hands. We headed BACK out to wait for Bregon, but he came running up to us needing me-he was already done...
He did super well on the test-in fact the guy behind the desk was quite impressed for some reason (apparently people dont do well on this test for I don't know why!)
All we would have to do is wait for the picture to develope for his permit-WOW!
We did the adult thing and I gave them money and took the kids out to the car to get ready for a Target run for Potty Power Celebration supplies!
We made it about a block before Kian had this horrible "I have to go potty" announcement that came accompanied with an extra, "But I don't want to make stinkies in my big-boy britches" bit!
We borrowed Cane's potty and he did his little thing while the rest of us discussed what Kai wanted for his potty power celebration.
Once we finally got to Target, we headed for the bathroom en masse AGAIN...Kian really had the men's side in tears with his running commentary on the Pirate Stinkies progress (yes there were more invading) and his help-the-stinkies-out grunting zombie noises...
We rendevoused back out front with our buggy, and headed up the main aisle-we split at the end in front of the sheets/housewares-Bregon would take them to the frozen food section to let Kai pick out dinner and I would run the toy gauntlet to acquire THE TRAIN and sibling potty power celebration favours...
I hit the jackpot in the toy department-I scored 3 new littlest petshop pets for $.75/piece, 3 superhero imaginext figures for Kian, and the correct big Toy Story 3 train for Kai!
I caught up with everyone with Bregon in tears he was laughing so hard...I doled out the cool prizes and tried to let him get himself back together a bit before asking about Kai's choice.
As luck would have it, Kai has a little sense of humor himself...for his potty power celebration fare, he chose POT PIES....kid you not...Kian added cheeseburgers into the mix for good measure, and we headed home...
It's very bittersweet. Now all of my trio are potty trained, and ready to start school this fall officially.
And Bregon...well Bregon has his permit and he drove us home from the store...We went the "Back" way...which meant we avoided some scary traffic, but it was his first time driving down thrill hill...
He did great, and the babies didnt even scream in abject terror THIS time...though Kian argued the entire time that Bregon should NOT be driving...
Ah sibling bickering at its finest! Now pull over, the kids have gotta go potty!!!
