Teen Relationships

Posted by Vulnadia on Jul 01, 2010 at 02:03 PM How do you handle teen relationships? It's a very difficult time for any child to be a teen, but love always throws a wrench in growing up. How a parent handles teen's relationships really is the key to preventing extreme measures from happening such as suicide pacts and death. It's difficult on both sides (if you have a son or a daughter) because to tell a couple they can't be together oftentimes pushes them further together oftentimes when a relationship isn't quite as serious as it appears. Allow them to "Get serious" and you open up another can of worms. How do you find the right balance? We all went through it growing up and now I see it in my own child's relationships and with his friends in similar positions. How do you know when a teen relationship is toxic? How do you avoid things going as far as suicide pacts? Are there resources out there for parents of teens in just such situations? This isn't a new problem by anymeans, in fact it's been around since the dawn of time. What can we as parents do to avoid such extremes? Story
