Morning Alarm-Clock

Posted by Vulnadia on Oct 11, 2009 at 10:20 PM Last night, Husband and I ended up working out at the Fair Grounds until 3a.m. doing various projects to ready the Haunt for opening. After a long day of rehearsal, evening of projects, a brief break to cook dinner and clean up, we headed BACK out to the Haunt and kept going! So, at 3a.m. we got home only to discover Bregon had left the baby dishes for US as well as his dinner out on the table... Yep, we had leftovers for breakfast...eeeewwwww, cold pizza the hard way! We finally climbed into bed about 4a.m. with the idea that we would head back out by 10 for tech-call at the Haunt. Did I mention we have dress rehearsal with an audience a week from Tuesday night? We actually OPEN that Thursday! Time is of the essence, and we have soo very little over it left and soo much to do!!!! So, we thought we would be fighting our alarm clocks this morning over those last few minutes of sleep. I was OH soo wrong about that! I woke up to a huge crash and thud coming from upstairs. In my delirium, I actually tried to automatically go back to bed for a moment, but Vivienne began screaming at the top of her lungs. I was immediately awake, and found myself bounding up the stairs, with flashbacks of the time the boys pulled the dresser over on top of her a year or so ago. If I were coherent, I would have remembered how Husband had long ago screwed the dresser into the wall to keep them from doing just that, but I was still sleepy! By the time I got upstairs, she was screaming and saying, "OH NO! HURT OH NO!!!" over and over again. I didn't even pause to take a deep breath before opening the nursery door...normally I would, but I was soo worried. Nobody has EVER screamed that they were actually HURT before, and I was worried sick! But, I opened the door to find Kaiden and Kian busy trying to reassemble the dresser accross the room, stacking the drawers only. Apparently, Vivienne had been helping carry the very large dresser drawer accross the room, and when they went to sit it on top of the bottom drawer, she ended up getting her finger smished inbetween them! She was hiccuping and crying and saying "OH NO, HURT!" over and over again. I tried not to laugh because, when she got to the top of the landing of the stairs, she stopped, held up her finger to show me, and proclaimed "LOOK! RED!!!" before commencing back to crying and her "OH NO's" again... I had a very Sesame Street moment going there for a time over that hey-look-it's-red proclaimation. At least she knows her colors, I suppose... What a way to test her on them, though! Poor baby is fine, just a small cut. It was nothing a band-aid couldn't fix. But it's been a very long day, and an even LONGER week! What a way to wake up this morning! And I thought I was going to just be dealing with the snooze button today!
