Dressing The Perfect Pirate

Posted by Vulnadia on Sep 18, 2009 at 08:28 AM Yesterday, Husband came home from work early because of the rain, and found a bunch of Pirate People masquerading as children. He found that this would never do, so he set about, at their request, to making them all Pirate King swords out of straws and tape (materials of the gods in my children's eyes!) Well, straws are only soo sturdy and stand up to sword-play only soo long! Within a few hours, the kids were terribly sad that their swords no longer were stiff and functional! What were we to do? He promised to fix it somehow, but never acted on it. Unfortunately, little people NEVER forget a promise, so they reminded me on the way out the door to pick up Bregon from school that they needed Pirate King swords. So, I picked up Bregon, headed to the Icee store, the bank, and then made a split decision on the fly. We would run by Walgreens! It's Halloween season after all, isn't it? Stuff should be out! I left the kids in the car slurping down Icees while I ran inside to see what could be done about our emergency situation. After all, how can one properly feel that they are in fact The Pirate King and feel exactly what a glorious thing it is to be the Pirate King sans that sword? I was in luck! They had a Pirate dress-up pack for cheap! I actually could afford three of something for once! Inside the pack was a hat, an eyepatch, a sturdy sword (not an easy find mind you) and an earing and hook. I was in business! I bought Bregon a new light up strobe glass for his root beer, and an eerie adorable and very amusing jack-in-the-box for me, and headed out to the mommie van to make some little folks very VERY happy! Let's just say that right now, as I type, they are busy in the nursery playing Pirate and watching The Pirate Movie and singing dancing & sword fighting!
