The Buzz on Buzz

Posted by Vulnadia on Feb 12, 2009 at 12:55 PM Poor Buzz has had a very rough life. It doesn't help that he was once Bregon's Buzz, either! I thought it was a great idea, giving the baby boys Buzz for Christmas this year. I mean, they adore Toy Story 1 & 2. I even still had Guitar Playing Woody to match, and a few baby Buzzes as well to boot! Well, I never realized that Buzz was going to be soo loved. Kian and Kai both adore theirs. Kai has the newer version that is slightly smaller and doesn't have wings but did come with a cool compass watch thingy that they love to fight over. Back to Buzz. The REAL BUZZ as I am often informed. This is opposed to Kai's Other Buzz, just like in the movies. Poor Buzz, I never knew you could come apart in soo many different ways. You see, at my house you are often tossed over a baby gate or out of bed to keep you safe from other siblings prying dirty little hands. This has led to such tragedy occurring as the wingpack coming off to reveal where the batteries that make Buzz speak should be. Not to worry, Buzz can be temporarily super glued back together if you are given the time to dry totally. That's the problem, really. Kian cannot be without his Buzz buddy very long at all without tearing up. So, lately, Buzz has been sporting criss crossed electrical tape to hold his wingpack in place. But that's not the most awful thing that has befallen Buzz as of late, oh no. You see, his helmet can come off in no less than 2 seperate pieces. Don't worry, it snaps back into place easily enough, but while it is off, it give you access to Buzz's head. It wasn't supposed to turn from side to side, yet it started to do so...with a litle help from a toddler that is. Then the unthinkable happened one day. I heard sniffling from the other room. Then I heard the most pitiful thing..."Buzz? Buddy?" Then it was followed with this tiny, "Oh no!" and a few tears. By the time I got in there to see what the matter was, Kian had come to terms with the situation, and was trying to make the best of the tragedy at hand. You see, Buzz's body was lying in the middle of the floor, helmetless...and worse...headless. Worse than that, he was in classic crime-scene body pose with the one arm up and out and everything. Then I noticed that Kian wasn't crying anymore. Nope, he was still playing with what he had apparently decided was the most important part of Buzz...his head. Yep, he had Buzz's head seated neatly in the saddle of one of the little people horses and it fit perfectly and neatly. It was rather surreal, funny, yet very pitiful because you have to understand how much Kian really loves his Buzz. He played with his Buzz head all day long, only finally breaking down when his Daddy came home and he was trying to have his dinner. That is when the tiny tears began to roll and he kept hiccupping "Buzz? Buddy? Daddy fix!" over and over and over again, getting sadder with each sentence. Thankfully, I had already called Daddy and warned him of the great tragedy at hand, so he came home bearing gifts of epoxy and all things sticky with which to put Buzz Buddy back together again. Husband busily set about re-attaching all of Buzzes parts, helmet, wing pack and head and all. And to this day, Buzz still has his bits about him and is happily keeping Kian company in his bed as I type.
