In my house, my toddlers have rewritten everything from their own language to the rules of well, existince.
Their latest antics have resulted in pre-potty training issues. They have known all about diapering problems for quite some time.
In fact, Kian was programmed at birth to dislike dirty diapers, especially making certain to let us know when his siblings needed changing as not to disrupt the sweet smell of his surroundings.
Fast forward to the kids being nearly three, and they have taken everything to a whole new level.
Because of their fascination for removing their diapers, we have long been taping their diapers into place.
My kids find it perfectly natural and really do get upset when someone forgets to give them their belt of tape.
But, lately, they have devised a new peer-pressure system. You see, they like to stand around while the others are being changed and determine if the sibling getting changed is "EEeewww" or "No EEeeww!"
If one is determined to be "EEeewww" that means that you have a stinky diaper and it smells bad therefor you must be serenaded by your siblings with huge loud choruses of "EEeewww!!!"
Oh the peer-pressure! Oh the peril! Kian HATES this. So much so, that he will scream, "NO!" and run away when it is time for diaper changes.
Yesterday, I had a break-through with Vivienne, though. She was having dinner, when she suddenly grabbed her diaper and squealed "Not EEeewww!"
You see, she realized that she had to piddle...pee...urinate...whatever everyone else wants to call it, she has let me know that my children have classified the opposite of producing "EEeewww" to be "Not EEeewww!"
This is as opposed to the absence of "EEeewww!" which is known as "No EEeeww!" and means that your diaper is simply wet, but not stinky yet you are not in the process of producing it.
Hmm. This could get complicated. But at least they saw fit to try and educate me in the subject!
I suppose the next step really is potty training. Wow! How did we get there so fast?
