Escalator's : NEVER Take Them For Granted!

Growing up, I was PETRIFIED of escalators.
I had good reason, though, or so I thought.
You see, when my mother was a child, she fell down the escalator inside Sears (the old one that St Vincent's Mall is built around) and broke her arm.
For some reason, that story left a HUGE impression on me and 'til this very day, I step on that escalator and remember her telling me about that story when I was a child!
I always made my kiddos take the elevator until they were much older and only then were they allowed to ride the escalator.
Not even the kids I babysat and took out were allowed to ride that escalator!
This story in today's paper really hit home and I found the information helpful and thought maybe you might too!
The escalator is such a mundane and common occurrence yet it can be so very dangerous, especially for the elderly and very young!
Also, be careful if you decide to try riding one with a stroller!

Mimi is the mother of four: a 12 1/2-year-old boy and 1-year-old triplets (two boys and one girl). She is very happily busy taking care of everyone, whether it's the triplets' multiple doctor appointments, attempting a shopping excursion or volunteering to plan her son's school renaissance festival.
