OH THE STAIRS!

A day that I have been dreading has come and gone now. I know, they have always known how to ascend the staircase. Ever since they could walk, they have been using their upstairs feet.
Now, they have learned the proper use of their downstairs feet...well their downstairs bum that is!
Yep, the babies have finally discovered the art and fun of descending the staircase.
I didn't realize that they had discovered that they could go down by themselves, so I found out the hard way of course!
I had taken them all upstairs for their nap yesterday. I managed to get Vivienne to pick out the new movie and into her crib.
I turned around expecting Kai to be hiding behind the door or in the closet ready to jump out and "Scare" me, but nobody was there but Vivie and I.
As I walked out of the bedroom door into the hallway, I caught a glimpse of Kai's sneakers and socks as they disapeared from my sightline down the stairway. The rest was blocked from view by the dividing wall.
I heard laughter and chatter as I rounded the corner to the top of the landing, so I knew that what he had done was quite purposeful and not a fall.
That wasn't much consolation, really. I arrived in time to see him land at the foot of the stairs next to his brother and both of them were giggling hysterically.
Kian just looked up at me and said, "Wakka Wakka Wakka!" I had no idea how to respond, I was in such shock!
Then they both went up a few stairs, then went back down on their behinds.
As if that wasn't enough to show me, they went up a few more steps, and decided to try going down on their bellies, this time with their feet first, thankfully.
Kai much prefers to go down head-first, though. I'm not too comfortable with this idea at all!
I know that we were allowed to do this when we were kids, but I also remember vividly the day my baby sister managed to somehow slip and roll down the stairs somersault style and hit her head on the wall below.
I just do not think that this is a good idea at all, so I am not going to encourage or allow this anymore.
But, now I have something to really worry about. Not only is Kai capable of climbing in and out of his bed at will, but he can also make it down the stairs all by himself.
I am going to have to be on my toes from now on!
they already made of with one of the keys to the deadbolt to the back patio!!!!
it resurfaced this morning, but it had been missing for a few!
but i guess i am lucky- my eldest had already escaped his carseat & "driven" my van before he was even 2!!! long story!
