Snow Day!

Posted by Vulnadia on Feb 13, 2010 at 09:20 PM Thursday when we woke up, it was snowing...and snowing A LOT!!!! I fretted all day Thursday about having to go pick up Bregon early and the idea that I might somehow miss the notification on the schools, so I stayed glued to the boob-tube all day...and the computer too (the usual there I suppose.) I managed to get Bregon safely and get us all back home, even with Icees for the kids (yes they begged and had to have them!) When we got home, we showed Daddy how we like to stand outside in the snow and catch snowflakes on our tongues and the babies told him everything they had learned all day! Friday morning, I woke up to snow EVERYWHERE!!! Dutifully, we got the kids dressed and headed outside, camera in tow, to play in it. As it turns out, snow makes Kian cry because it is just too cold, poor buddy!!! Kaiden was the first to grab a handful and pelt both Bregon and I both with some! This started something Bregon had always dreamed of...He got to have a snowball fight with his brothers for the first time, even if they are only 3!!!! Vivienne gleefully joined in the fun and did her share of the pelting with snowballs! In fact she was all about playing in it! We made a snowman in our front yard together.
Then,we went inside for hot chocolate and popcorn for a snack. Then, Daddy came home to play with us! We had used up all the snow in the front yard basically, so we went out driving to find us some to play with! We didn't have to go far, and we ended up at First Baptist, sled in tow. You see, all Vivienne wanted to do was go sledding...she had seen it on tv and wanted to soo badly. She was delighted to find that we had my mother's sled stored in our garage from way back in the late 50's! Yes, that sled has a story, too! It was bought after my Granddaddy and Mum went sledding down Thrill Hill one winter and he slid off and ended up going down on his rear end! The next week, they had a shiny new red ryder sled to use the next time it snowed, and I still have that same sled to this very day! So, to First Baptist we went, to try it out. Now, it wasn't really icy enough to sled very well, but we did our best with Daddy's help!
Next, we had to leave our calling card, a nice snow-bear made with help from everyone!
Kai couldn't stand himself, so he ran off to check out his favourite playground. Yes, my kids had to go sliding in the snow and check everything out to see how pretty it was!
We had such a great snow day together as a family!
