To Watch, Or Not To Watch...

To Watch...Or not to watch: that is the question of the hour. Yep, forgive me, I always think of the world from Hamlet's perspective, never have been able to figure that one out! My child still hasn't made a decision on whether or not he will watch that speech yet, but he has a day left to decide! In the meantime, we have been doing our homework, doing our research to see what can be seen out on the internet. I made the decision early on to allow him to make his own informed decision for himself. He is a big boy, old enough to hold his own and make his own decisions, and assessments of information. I hope that whatever happens, the other kids respect everyone's decisions one way or another and that nothing bad comes of this. At face value the speech is innocent, but when taking into account the actions and words my child experienced and heard at school all day Friday, that speech has evolved into something different. We can question the timing, the content, the intent even, but ultimately, we will all be coping and dealing with whatever happens in the end. Hopefully, if my child decides to go for it and watch the speech and do the work, it will be respected as his own personal opinion and he won't be chastised or ostracized from any of it whatever the content may be.
