A Space & Time Oddity

I so dreaded getting up at the crack o dawn today! It had nothing to do with the morning delivery of the eldest to school, either!
You see, today was our health unit/wicc appointment and those are always dreaded at my house!
You never can tell exactly what to expect when you get there and you can never predict how the kids are going to react.
Plus I have to add in the fact that swine flu is busily floating around town mutating, doing it's thing, running rampant and now verified to be present at my eldest's child's school.
But, chin up, if we manage to catch it early before the masses, maybe just maybe we will be fortunate enough to score some tamiflu ...with any luck that is!
So, this morning I procrastinated getting up, not wanting to go to the health unit.
I dragged myself out of bed just in time to combat the contacts that refuse to stay in my eyes without feeling like glass and somehow manage to see long enough to get some semblence of makeup on my face!
I even remembered to wake up the eldest and fix breakfast to go for the little people and stash it by the front door.
I reluctantly went upstairs (had an episode yesterday that was pretty disgusting) and popped the latch on the nursery room door.
Vivienne was soaking again this morning so I called down to Bregon to secure some fresh shorts while I tried to herd everyone down the stairs so we could get them changed and out the door.
No matter how planned I was, it was still mass chaos. Vivienne insisted upon sliding down the stairs in spite of her soaking wet shorts...clorox spray note to self.
Kian immediately honed in on the breakfast in a baggie and scooped his up and started thanking me for his breakfast (he has the best food radar ever!)
Kai ran to the living room as he is a creature of habit and wanted his breakfast to be waiting on the dining room table for him.
Vivienne laid down at the landing so I could change her which was very agreeable considering the chaos.
Bregon managed to catch Kai in the kitchen and get him changed (he had been searching for his breakfast so he could put it on the table where it belonged.)
They met me at the stairs with fresh shorts for Vivienne which did not match her shirt AT ALL in fact they managed to pick out the only pair she owned that would clash with what she already had on somehow!
I fixed the fashion emergency and got her dressed somehow. By this point Kai had managed to open the door and Kian and he were leaving NOW!
Somehow I got the mommie-van door opened and Bregon ran out leaving me with his bags and ours...but he put the boys into the van and got them buckled in so I was very grateful!
We somehow managed to be on time to school in spite of the school zones and the idiots who passed us going about 50 around us in them!
Our appointment was for 8:45 at the Health Unit and we pulled into the parking lot about 8:20.
We got unloaded, leashes on and headed inside somehow without anyone falling over anyone else...a huge feat if you ask me!
We talked all about the elevator and how it would take us upstairs so that it wasn't a huge shock when we actually got to it.
Kian pushed the up button for me, and Kai considered taking the stairs, but his leash wouldn't allow it!
They actually all wanted to ride in the elevator until the doors closed and it started moving!
Thankfully it was all over before they noticed too much difference! We signed in at 8:25.
Apparently they saw us coming because a lady comandeered our folder while I was still signing in and disapeared into the back with it.
We had enough time to look out 3 of the windows and dole out the Nemo effigy's so that our Nemo's could wave to the real Nemo's who live in the pond in the garden below!
The lady came back and got us soo fast the kids hadn't even had a chance to finish their tour of all of the windows yet!
Kian insisted upon staying out in the hallway while Vivienne and Kai each decided to sit in chairs while I signed for the vouchers.
We were actually back home before 9a.m. I think that was the fastest appointment I have EVER had at the Health Unit, and by far the most pleasant!
I still can't get over it. I mean, I always get in and out pretty fast considering everyone else's reports of hours and hours of waiting and such...we had a thread on that recently actually!
It has to be some sort of space and time oddity, it just has to! But for that, I am very grateful!
