High School Day 2..He's Happy

Posted by Vulnadia on Aug 19, 2009 at 11:17 AM Yesterday marked day 2 of Bregon's High School Experience. I know, it sounds like a book or a movie, but really, which of us doesn't have a story to tell? I worried and fretted probably about as badly as I did that first day. He came home quite the little chatter box, actually, which is a good sign or so I think. He made a startling discovery, too. You see, he has one of my old teachers from when I went to the same high school. And, unlike my sister, who hated being "Mimi's Little Sister" Bregon LOVES being my kid! You see, his teacher actually perked up when he figured out exactly where my child got his brain from... And then something happened, something very very neat. Yep, a landmark occasion in the life of any teen, he actually bonded with his teacher! Bregon has NEVER talked this much and been this happy about school before! And to add to it, he is learning from this teacher already and loving every minute of it! He had a sad moment, too, don't get me wrong. It was bound to happen sooner or later and it did. A friend of his who was away all summer long came running up to say hi and asked where his best friend was cause he hadn't seen him around. Bregon had to tell him. He didn't want to do it, but nobody else had. He managed to break the bad news guy-style, and there were a few tears shared, but all in all it is getting a tiny bit better... Or at least I like to think it is anyways. This teacher is really helping ease the transition though. Lunch is super weird for Bregon, though. It's not that he doesn't find someone to sit with because he sounds like he was turning away folks actually for lack of room. It's that the seat next to him is never filled by his usual sidekick and best mate. But he is trying to stay positive and nice and make friends with as many new folks as possible. He is a bit overwhelmed though by the huge number of girls that are glad to see him and who walk up and just start talking to him as if he has known them all his life! it's a whole new world for him, but he seems to be happy there and for that I am very happy too!
