Wow, What a Week!

My week has been filled with many changes and many things have happened.
First off, last week I hosted my first family Thanksgiving celebration at my house. It went fairly uneventful for the most part, thankfully, with the exception of the stereotypical movie family event that I used to find so cliche' until now.
Yep, for some reason, my Grandfather had one of those movie moments on my couch. I don't know if you guys remember Grandma from National Lampoons Vacation movies or not, or Geraldine Chapman's role in Home for the Holidays, but my Granddaddy was giving both characters a run for their money.
There was even this one point where my sister and I both were afraid that he was going to leave us forever. He was just sitting there on the sofa, with Kai cuddled up next to him (how anyone could ignore Commando Cuddles is beyond me-he's very rough and always bouncy) and somehow Granddaddy zoned out and wasn't responding to anyone or anything.
But, right before we were going to eat, he suddenly hopped up, said he wasn't feeling very good, and was going home. He said he felt okay enough to drive and refused to allow anyone to drive him home, so we let him go. He is okay, really he is, but we had that weird little movie family moment for a minute there!
Then, of course, it was time to get the Christmas tree out and put it up. We all know how each year the Christmas tree is a great source of amusement in my family and the debate on how to preserve it and keep it in one piece is always ongoing.
Well, this year, we took it and put it up higher than last year's antique steamer trunk. In fact, we decided to just break down and put it up on this antique dining table instead, thinking that it would set it far enough up out of reach for safety.
Well, did I mention that the kids are growing somewhat? Not enough for the Health Unit to not get on to me about their pygmy-ness or anything, though (that was last week too by the way- they still have not figured out that multiples are SMALLER BECAUSE THERE ARE MORE OF THEM or that they are going to be tiny for a time.)
Yep, the kids can reach the bottem branches of the now 10 1/2 foot tree (table & tree combined of course!) Kaiden even decided to try and help it turn around in circles while the stand was turned off, so some of the branches had to be bent back into place.
But, for the moment, the tree still stands. All of the trio remember how to say "Christmas Tree" and "Ho ho ho, Merry Christmas" and such, each in their own way of course.
Vivienne still talkes with her lips together in tripletese, but we know that there would be words there if only she would part her lips...Kai sounds like he has had a few when he says it, and has decided to finally start talking all the time as well...who knew that he had this little Pee Wee Herman voice in there, but he does!
Of coures Kian can speak, he has always been the great orator of the bunch, but he is saying it along with everyone else!
I am sad to report, though, that it has become quite necessary to put the rugrat style octagon shaped baby gate back around the table holding the tree, though. Don't worry, this hasn't stopped the babies from trying to free the tree at all!
They have tossed anything and everything that can be tossed at the tree in some attempt to get it to play ball with them or get ornaments to fall their way.
They have pushed and pulled every bit of play furniture and even tried using fire trucks as step stools to get over the gate, all to no avail.
The tree still stands as of this moment, but we have found other uses for tables because of it.
Apparently the use of the table has spawned a table-awareness in the babies. This means that we have to try and use the dining room table for its intended purpose and not just a track for cars or a modeling runway anymore.
Last night, we had our first big at the table family dinner. The kids got up at the smell of pizza being cooked about 9ish and decided to sit at the table with us while we had our dinner.
Of course you can't eat pizza in the presence of my trio without sharing, so each had their own plates and everyone sat at the table like big people and ate together.
Vivie sat there like a big girl and was very dainty. Kian kept stating to the world that he was stuck because his chair had arms on it and encased him into his spot. Kaiden decided to take his pizza and make it into a car, "Speed Racer" style and insisted upon driving it all over his part of the table with it. It eventually morphed into an airplane at some point, and flew upstairs with him to bed...
So it's been an interesting week. We have discovered new things about our family, and had some tiny milestones reached!
