Back To School

Posted by Vulnadia on Aug 08, 2010 at 05:06 PM Oh yes, I've even already been back to school...the high school meeting was this past Thursday. For the unitiated, the high schools must all convert on over to the modified block schedule...yippee...now its going to be a huge guess each Monday as to which classes you should go to...first half or 2nd half? Teachers won't be able to guess any better than the students will really...and if you have a holiday, sure hate it for ya, but no make-up for that missed class day really! They will stay on schedule!!! High School should be definately different this year, that's for sure! Tomorrow, I get to go to preschool...through much finagling, my Daddy helped get everything straightened out with my trio and I should be able to go to the meeting...should... I know where they will be going, I know who their teacher is, but the school hasn't gotten all of the paperwork yet because of one person not having completed their written evaluation...just ducky!!! It's been a huge mess, and it's pretty much where I've been the past few weeks, tryin to get my trio into school properly...it's been difficult, and not too much fun!!! But tomorrow night, I should get to go to class and do the Mommie thing for them...three times the school supplies, three times the room-mommie duty, three times the snacks...this should be interesting to say the least! I sort of have uniforms done...sort of, without Vivienne looking TOO much like a secretary that is! Now to figure the rest of all of this out! I don't think I'm going to know what to do! by Vulnadia on Aug 10, 2010 at 01:56 PM i seriously doubt i'm going to like this much...the way they are doing it is that every other monday will alternate-so it will change, tuesdays & thursdays will be one set of classes, & wed/friday will always be another set of classes-with monday changing always...no makeup if its a holiday... sure we get more classes, but we already had a good set-up to begin with-thisknocked out the fencing team class completely & jacked up the elective system (used to you signed up for something & they made sure you got that class-1rst choice was almost ALWAYS guarenteed-but now with the more "elective choices" you end up with too many students trying to fill classes they didnt account for (ie picking whatever) & funding didnt give more teachers, so this year early reports are not good for the elective choice-which is bad when you have a child focused on very specific courses for very specific reasons- i wont know for certain til we see the actual schedule though, this is just the problems voiced from the folks who usually do the scheduling-they are very worried about it actually because for absolute years nobody ever had to worry about not getting the classes they needed!!! plus the overage in classes does NOT mean you can just take more science courses & knock out the core4-you have to get specific permissions to do that & the way its set up it will be very difficult to add them in (you have to have the prereq courses first not at the same time & the way its offered doesnt work out that way)
