Curtain Is At 6:30

Posted by Vulnadia on Apr 09, 2009 at 12:08 PM Last night, in some weird attempt at calming the little people down and convincing them that they should go to sleep instead of the usual party, I changed out the DVD upstairs. I figured that since they love music, that maybe "Annie" was the answer. Afterall, Kai loves "Rent..." I popped it in, started everything up and put it on repeat. They lay in their respective beds comatose, mesmerized by the movie...for a time. Husband and I left to go turn in his timecard for work, and came back an hour later to a quiet house. This was a good sign, or so I had thought. I put dinner on to thaw, and sat down to do a little research until it was ready to cook. That is when the noise started. It sounded like a machine tearing into the top story of our house, really it did. I couldn't figure out WHAT that was. Then I went upstairs to check on the children. I opened the door to a regular Busby Berkely number being choreographed in my nursery. The babies were DANCING! They weren't just shaking their little booties, either, they had their jazz hands out, arms outstretched and were navigating around the room to match the choreography that was on the television screen. They were actually matching it all pretty well, too. It was the Rocket scene that had caused soo much noise. The radio station number was a little less rambunctious...for a time that is! I smiled, shrugged it off, and put everybody back into their respective beds and tucked them all back in for the night (or so I thought!) I had barely gotten back downstairs and settled back at my computer when the next wave hit. Oh sure, they were dancing, only now it was the finale, and it sounded like I had a house full of Gremlins (think christmas carol singing scene from the movie.) Yep, the babies were singing along with the finale version of "Tomorrow" and most of it was in "La-la" form. Sure, I could make out the bits of the words "Morrow" and "Dollar" but that was about it! I kinda lost of after that part. It was too funny for words. My tiny trio were upstairs staging their first musical, dancing and singing and all. I suppose I shouldn't be too surprised, after all there was a time when Bregon was convinced that he was going to grow up and play "Mr. Mistoflees" in "Cats" which really was a lucrative job at the time (most consistent job on Broadway at the time really!) Then again, hadn't I myself also spent hours staging musicals with my Barbie dolls in my bedroom growing up? Geesh, I haven't even started teaching them much in that genre and they are already taking to it like naturals. Guess my trio are gonna be stars one day, so watch out! Til then, you can catch the evening performance of "Annie" in my nursery each night starting at 6:30p.m. and a nice matinee that just started at 1!
