The Day Things Changed!

This past Saturday started out pretty innocently enough. Bregon had his fencing lesson, they came back and cooked breakfast and played with the babies, then went to the youth program fencing bouts.
We had a cast party slated for Saturday night for the show that we had just closed with the theater the week before.
It started out normally. People showed up, began to mingle and munch on the food that we put out for them.
About 7:30 was when we noticed something wasn't right. Husband had just come in from out front, and noticed little eyes peeping at him from around the corner in the stairwell.
He heard, "OOOOH NOOO!!!" and scrambling as Vivienne tried to run upstairs as fast as she could without getting caught.
Husband caught sight of Kai's butt as he topped the stairs and ran towards the bedroom.
That's right, the children were FREE!!!! Not a good thing to find out in the middle of a party on a Saturday night.
Husband arrived upstairs in the nursery to find that not only had Kai and Vivienne managed to master the art of escaping their beds, but so had Kian!
All of this and they had only been 3 for one week and one day. But wait, there is soo much more where that came from.
You see, they had already mastered the art of working a deadbolt. They know how to open them, how to take the key to keep us from locking them, and how to go outside whenever they please...providing they remember where they hid the shiny pretty key.
They have also mastered how to work the DVD player and television. They can even put their movie of choice on repeat, too.
On Sunday, they quickly found the baby monitor and learned how to sever communications from the nursery.
Husband got up very early Sunday to go after new child containment devices. There are now doorknob covers in some attempt at slowing down the mass exodus from the bedroom.
Then there is the matter of their closet. Their closet contains a very inviting ladder that leads up into the access for the attic. MUST KEEP BABIES OUT OF ATTIC!!!!
They discovered that inside their closet happens to be Bregon's private stash of stuffed animals that are waiting for the day to come where they can be played with again.
I dole them out in small increments usually over the course of a long long time...or that was my plan anyways.
They discovered those bags and emptied two of them into Vivienne's bed, filling it to the top of the crib-rail with toys.
Oh yes, she did plan on sleeping on top of that heap, and I let her do it for one night before repacking them all up.
I really do not want to know what is next!
its pretty frightening round here! they already have mastered the art of tape removal...except when its around their diapers because to them having tape as a belt is some sort of weird status symbol...its apparently cool to wear packing tape especially the clear kind!!!!
but we have taken to super gluing those doorknob covers in place... on outlet covers...um i hope those boxes hold...i need to be ableto use them upstairs in the nursery!!! we use clear tape over the electrical sockets with the faceplate on top of it....on the ones we dont use that is...
as for the cabinet locks...we had to remove & replace the ones we had- they knew how to get around them- if you install the push down ones too high , they are stiff & difficult to open even for an adult...
as for the loopy ones...sadly, those work as is...until they unscrew the cabinet pulls....then they dont work anymore....
its why the knives & most of the cooking untinsils live on a high shelf in the pantry Now & we dont use them much....
they are slowly taking over the house & its scary!!!!!!
but its funny- it really is....well after the fact it is- its okay to laugh, promise!!!!
just be glad we dont have octuplets+ 6!!!!!! that poor lady wont have to worry bout firing nannys ~soon enough they will be leaving in droves &she will be wishing for mary poppins to show up...speaking of which, do you think she might put in an appearance at my house anytime soon??? maybe i should tear up an advertisment & put it up the floo & see what happens...
