Are They Going Too Far?

Posted by Vulnadia on Mar 04, 2010 at 08:44 AM This article touches on the idea that allowing preschoolers to express themselves may be a bad thing. What do you think? In a feminist world, is allowing your daughter to wear decidedly boys clothing, go by a boys name and even play with boys toys going to cause them to have gender issues? In this day and age, there are some who believe that doing so will cause your child to grow up and be gay or bisexual. Personally, I allow my daughter to have boy toys and my sons to have girl toys. The boys each have their dolls and my daughter has her share of trains trucks and super hero's. They share their playhouse and teasets and play together happily and it doesn't bother me in the least. I can see where it might bother some people, but in my eyes they will grow up and evolve into whomever they desire to be. It's my job to teach them and guide them and help them learn to be good productive people, however I refuse to shove a square peg into a round hole or however it's supposedly said. What do you think? Will the child in the article grow up to be a "Boy" instead of a "Girl" because they let her wear what is considered "Boy" clothes and use a "Boy" name? I know I have a budding Princess Lady Pirate and Pirate King in my midst and it doesn't bother me one bit. original Is Angelina Jolie Turning Shiloh Into a Boy? Parenting Experts Weigh In
