Octo-Mum View-bound Next Week

Posted by Vulnadia on Feb 18, 2010 at 09:29 AM For once I really want to watch this in hopes that this lady will come accross as anything BUT the way she has been depicted over the past year in the media. Let's face it, they have painted a picture with such a HUGE slant that it really is anybody's guess as to what she is really like, if she can really think for that matter. This inquiring mind wants to know if they will give her a chance or if they are just having a witch-burning party on national television for sport. It really had me thinking how difficult it is for mothers of higher order multiples, ESPECIALLY those of us with additional children as well, find it hard to explain or even give accounts of our everyday lives without the every-woman/man reading into it their own slant, their own biases. That coupled with the fact that, in the past when just blogging about incidences that I personally find amusing, I've been accused of actually bitching about/complaining about my life when in fact I had thought I was sharing something to giggle about. It amazes me how people really do these things and actually form opinions of those of us they cannot understand. I see this based on something I saw in a movie long ago...where a Mom was portrayed as seemingly awful, stressed out and basically the way she handled everything appeared grotesque and quite uncalled for/extreme. Looking back at the same scenes now, knowing what I know, having been through something similar, I almost get it, almost understand, save for the idea that I disagree with the actual outcome of the situation. It's near impossible to explain or portray the magnitude of what we go through each day to anyone who hasn't been there and experienced it for themselves. It comes accross a myriad of ways based on the personal experiences of those doing the interpreting and original intent is almost always lost. That being said, I'm really truly interested to see what comes of this appearence and how she will fair both on the show and in the press/reviews. Will you be watching or have you already joined the press-painted picture bandwagon of this woman?
