The End Of His World As He Knows It

Posted by Vulnadia on May 20, 2009 at 02:30 PM It's a little over a week until the end of this school year, and Bregon has no idea that this is the beginning of the end of his world as he knows it. Yep, in just about a week, he will complete his 8th grade year and begin that transition that we all have to make into high school. Most all of his friends are Magnet bound, with a few exceptions heading to Byrd, so he isn't worried about not seeing any of his friends. What he doesn't know or cannot possibly fathom is how much a summer will change everyone and how next year's classes will set the stage for the next four years of his life. His friends and interests will change forever at the beginning of next year. Yet he innocently is out in the backyard as I type (I suppose it's why I can type at the moment) playing with his siblings, probably making bubbles for them to chase and burst and eat. Saturday, a few of the Mommies and I are hosting a huge 8th Grade Graduation party at the park. YES the boys ran out of boys to invite and just had to resort to inviting GIRLS, oh my! So Saturday should be very interesting to say the least. Bregon and all of his best friends will have their last hurrah before summer. He has a busy summer planned, to keep his mind off of all of the changes. He has been taking it all in stride, really. He has always just accepted the idea that he will head to Magnet and be on the Fencing team there. He has plans, and a smart way to achieve them. All of them are very doable and very realistic. All of his plans are geared towards college and how to pay his way through it. He has big dreams, and huge goals. It's such a big load on such narrow shoulders! I don't know how I am going to take it as a Mom!
