Here Today, Gone Tomorrow!

Posted by Vulnadia on May 20, 2009 at 02:55 PM Okay, so lately, I have been noticing something bizarre happening at our local stores. Has anyone else noticed that the grocery stores are scaling back? They just are not carrying the variety that they did even a month ago! I don't buy out of the ordinary things, either! But, over the past few weeks, I have noticed that many of my favourite things are no longer being carried. It isn't isolated to any one store, either! It is happening at Brookshires, I discovered things missing from Kroger. Walmart has always been difficult about not carrying things, but even their supply on things seems down at times! I mean, one day there wasn't any blueberry waffle to be had! Another shopping trip came up shy of my favourite salad mix that is from a major company (Dole!) Then there is the matter of the pico de gallo that I always buy. I had to start buying the less yummy in-house made variety at one store because they just suddenly stopped carrying the other after many years! The other day, I noticed a little girl and her Daddy were looking for something in the frozen section. She kept saying, "But it was here last week when I was here with Mom!" Even the stores that are supposedly expanding seem to be carrying less and less of the usual things I buy! It really makes me feel funny when they are out of something I really need. One day, a grocery store was totally out of milk save for what was expiring that very same day! What are we going to do if they keep downsizing? Will it result in us having to resort to buying only what they want to sell us? Is this good for the customer? Or is it something more?
