Lock-out Time

Lock-out time is something that is referred to in the early version of J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan that is usually listed under the title, "The White Swan" which is one of my favourite stories.
Of course I have made the mistake of reading this to my tiny triplets as bedtime stories.
Yesterday, to try and soothe the savage trio while I was busy driving in from Houston, I suggested to Husband that he put the Disney Peter Pan in and see if that would calm the kids down a bit so he could get his wits about him.
Bad Idea! I didn't realize that they were now capable of abstract concepts and application of them!
In the original story, Lock-out time is what happens in the park each night when the humans go home for the day and the fairies come out.
Peter Pan as a baby lives here at first when his mother locks him out of the house by closing the window at night after he had flown out for the evening.
It also involves a small cameo from the poet Shelley who makes a paper boat for him and sets it to float in the lake to amuse him.
But, back to my triplets. They somehow decided that their Daddy was Peter Pan and that they must play with him.
So, when Daddy went outback to the patio to smoke, they shut the door behind him and locked it!
Then they got quite upset and screamed because they wanted to go, too!
Poor Husband, he was already frazzled from the other goings on of the day, so he was at his wits end and didn't even have his keys on him!
He ended up breaking a tine off of the rake and picking it that way, luckily for us!
But, now we know never EVER go outside without taking the key with us!
i HOPE i get to go places again! i had to come home early this go-round!!! & my eldest was crushed as well as my friend-we spent all our together time doing other things cause we thought we had another day to do us stuff....getting ready for the graduation & stuff & gathering presents & stuff for our trip...
husband is talking about sending us back in a few weeks to give it another try-only in shorter increments!!!!
so i have hope!
