Maternal Death On The Rise

Posted by Vulnadia on Mar 10, 2010 at 06:53 AM If only they had warned me that I might not make it through my pregnancy, I wouldn't have been so surprised. Saturday is the 4 year anniversary date of my triplet's being born. I worried soo much for soo long about them making it, that I hadn't even given thought to the idea that I might not. But, that is a very real possibility that NOBODY and I mean NOBODY warned me about prior to my walking into labor & delivery that day. I almost died. In fact, technically, I did thrice over and remember a lot of it vividly in spite of supposed to have been being knocked out when the spinal didn't take...all three of them... I am not sure why we as mothers aren't warned of the dangers of childbirth. In this day and age, it would seem that we take medical technology for granted and assume that it's good enough to see us through something as seemingly simple as childbirth. Are we too trusting? Why don't our doctors mention the risk and possibility of our own deaths? Were you aware? Let us know your situation and opinion. original Maternal Death Rates Up, New Study Says
