A Royal Fit

Posted by Vulnadia on Oct 23, 2008 at 10:22 AM Last Friday morning, something awful happened in my dining room! Apparently, Vivienne woke up on the wrong side of her crib, because she was in quite a terrible and awful mood! She began to scream the moment I picked her up from her crib, in spite of getting Mumsy good morning kissies. I did manage to somehow get her diaper changed and the very unhappy little girl into her feeding chair, but I am not sure exactly how. I figured that maybe she was just hungry or thirsty and would finally calm down once I gave her breakfast, but I was very wrong! I tried to give her her blanket and dollie as she normally likes to have breakfast with both, but she tossed both of them and screamed louder and harder, reaching for them both anyways. I tried giving them back to her again, to no avail. I managed to evade kicking baby girl feet and get her breakfast plate and milk cup on to her tray, but she still screamed. I decided that maybe my presence was causing all of this, or at least maybe enabling all of it, so I decided to try going into another room and see if it helped as it sometimes does. It didn't work. I came back in when I heard the tell-tale sound of her cup and plate hitting the floor. I managed to salvage her breakfast somehow, and get it all re-plated for lack of a better term, and decided that maybe Vivie could be calmed down by rocking a bit. I took her out of the feeding chair, and tried rocking her in the glider for a while. She only looked at me and kept screaming, reaching towards her feeding chair and breakfast all the while. I ended up finally giving in, and put her back into her chair. She actually seemed happy and quieted down for a very short time and took a sip of milk. That was when she accidentally dropped it, and the whole thing started over again. She tossed her plate onto the floor, too, while I was picking her milk up for her. After replating her food for the third time, I took her out of her seat, placed the tray back in its place, and left the room. By this time, Kai had finished his breakfast, and was trying to snag his sister's food, too, which only made her madder. I heard more tossing noises from the bedroom, so I headed back into the dining room and found that Vivienne had decided to take her plate and cup over to the steamer trunk and have breakfast away from her brothers in peace. Kai had decided to follow, and was steadily borrowing waffle bits from her plate and it had angered her. In retaliation, she had tossed one of her doll houses at him and hit him with it. I had had enough, and the fit hadn't stopped after almost 45 minutes. I told her to tell her brother that she was sorry and to pick up her freshly re-spoiled breakfast bits. All she could do was scream louder and louder, so I picked it all up and took it away from her. I have never seen someone throw such a fit for so long, but Vivienne was going for a royal world record this day
