Scream Dream Teen

Posted by Vulnadia on Oct 27, 2008 at 07:23 PM My eldest has been working Haunted Attractions since he was 5 years old. When he was 5, he basically found his way out to the front of the Chateau du Macabre and became the youngest hawker probably ever! He not only lured people in to buying tickets for the show, but he also got a few good scares by hanging from some shackles that were part of the front wall that led to the house! Later, when he was older, he learned to line-walk when a friend of ours had an independent haunt out at the former South Park Mall, affectionately dubbed "JC Penny O Doom!" Line walking is something that you may remember from the old Dr. Blood and Terror Show days at the fair haunt that Gas Light Players always put on. It basically involves dressing up as a creature associated with the year's theme of the main haunt, and going outside to entertain the line by walking down the side of it staring at the patrons. Some folks get into stare-downs, some folks like to heckle the actor and try and get them to talk or laugh or smile. But, much like the guards at Buckingham Palace, they never flinch, or so much crack a dimple or blink really. Fast forward to today, out at the current State Fair, and I find my eldest out walking our line dressed in his black patent leather combat boots, black jeans, polo shirt and leather trench coat. He was mobbed by the little girls on cast the moment he set foot in our greenroom. Hands shot out from all directions all of the sudden, along with names and introductions for him. Then, we put him into make-up and he went out front on the line only to get mobbed just as much by fair-goer girls as cast! My little lost boy is so cute! I don't have a picture yet, but by this weekend, I should! The little girls aren't even put off when he spews blood everywhere, either, they are undaunting. I suppose if Horror film diva's are called "Scream Queens" I can safely call my child a "Scream Dream-Teen!"
